The Primera B Nacional, the second tier of Argentine football, translates as the National Premier B. Teams play each twice (home and away) for a total of 38 games. The top two teams are promoted to the Primera División while the 3rd and 4th teams go into playoffs with teams 17 and 18 from the Primera División. Relegation is based on the average points obtained over the last three seasons. The bottom two clubs in the relegation table are automatically relegated. The season runs from August to May.
