Official Website: realsociedad.com Founded on September 17, 1909 by ex-members of San Sebastian Football Club. In 1910, the club was granted royal status by the Spanish king Alfonso XIII and the current name was adopted. San Sebastian is known as Donostia in the Basque language and, at the advent of the Spanish Civil War and a briefly independent Basque Country, the Donostia name was adopted. After the end of the Civil War the club returned to the Real Sociedad name. Maintained a Basque-only policy until 1989. Previous stadiums - Ondarreta (1909-13), Atotxa (1913-93).
