The club went into hiatus during World War II before being refounded as Kolejarz - Railwaymen. In 1963 Kolejarz merged with Górnik Wilchwy resulting in two years of competion as Górnik Wilchwy-Wodzisław Śląski before simplifying things to Gorniczy KS Wodzisław Śląski. In 1976 Odra re-entered the club's name and in 1992 the club adopted its current official name of Miejski Klub Sportowy Odra Wodzisław Śląski - Odra Wodzisław Śląski City Sports Club. The nickname Niebiesko-czerwoni - the Blue and Red - reflects the club colors while Odrzańscy means those from the Oder river. The club's emblem is also the coat of arms of the town of Wodzisław Śląski, the eagle coming from the town's founder Władysław Opolski and the rose symbolizing the Virgin Mary.
