Official Website: acmilan.com Milan were founded by Englishman John Edwards in 1899 as Milan Football and Cricket Club. The cricket section was abandoned not long after and officially dropped from the club name in 1919. From 1939-45 the name became AC Milano, a change forced upon the club by the Fascist government of the time who disapproved of foreign names. Milan finished the 1991-92 season as unbeaten champions, the only time that has occurred in Italian football history. The derby with Inter is called the Derby della Madonnina, in honor of the statue of the Madonna which graces the famous Duomo cathedral in the center of Milan and which is the symbol of the city. The club's emblem includes the red and black vertical stripes of the jersey on one side and the emblem of the city of Milano on the other. Previous Stadiums: Arena Civica (-1926).
