Founded on December 1, 1900 by Alfredo Marangolo, who had recently returned from school in England. The original club went bankrupt in 1910 and was immediately replaced by Società Ginnastica Garibaldi Messina. The second version dissolved during World War I, to be replaced by Unione Sportiva Messinese. Umberto Messina and Messina Sporting club were incorporated within a month in 1922, resulting in a name change to Messina FC. Two years later that club disappeared and was reformed as US Messinese. In 1941 the club again went bankrupt and again efforts were made to relaunch it under a new name. These efforts were halted by World War II but, after still more mergers and confusion, a relatively stable structure was finally introduced - Associazione Calcio Riunite Messina (the reuniting of two factions of the club). In the mid-90s the club was declared bankrupt and relaunched in the amateur fifth division. Merged with local club Peloro in 1997 resulting in the club's current full name. Peloro is a neighborhood of Messina. Achieved an incredible four promotions from 1998-2004. The club's emblem incorporates the coat of arms of the city of Messina. The stadium is located in the San Filippo district of the city. The club's long-time stadium, the Giovanni Celesti, was formally named for a former player of Peloro who died in World War II while the first stadium, the Enzo Geraci, was named to similarly honor an ex-player who died in World War I. Previous stadium - Enzo Geraci (1923-32), Comunale Giovanni Celeste (1932-2004).
