Limavady United logoFull Name: Limavady United Football Club
City: Limavady, County Derry
Country: Northern Ireland
League: IFA Championship
Founded: 1884
Stadium: The Showgrounds - Limavady (1500)
Colors: Blue
Previous: Limavady Alexander Football Club (1876-84)
Nickname: Roesiders

Official Website: limavadyunited.com

Limavady Alexander merged with Limavady Wanderers in 1884 to create Limavady United. The origin of the name Limavady comes from the Irish (Gaelic) ‘Leim a Mhadaidh’, which means ‘the leap of the dog’. A leaping dog can be seen in the club’s crest. The Roesiders nickname is a reference to the Roe river which runs through the borough of Limavady. 1876 is the year of foundation for Limavady Alexander (though as a cricket) club and this date appears on the club crest and is sometimes given as the year of the club's foundation.

Limavady is a Borough not a Village!

Thanks DoctoR, I have updated the page to include that correction and also rewrote it a bit. I think my info on 1876 was wrong.
