Description: Club de Fútbol Indios, typically known simply as Indios or Indios Juárez, were created for the 2005-06 season after the move of Pachuca Juniors from Pachuca to Ciudad Juárez. Whether this is actually a new club or the transfer of a franchise or the resurrection of an older club in Ciudad Juárez - very hard to say. A couple of other professional clubs have existed in Ciudad Juárez over the last couple of decades - Cobras from 1987 to 1994 including four seasons in the Primera División and a second Cobras from 2001 to 2005 before they moved to Los Mochis and changed their name to Tigres B. Indios were a subsidiary team (a filial) of Pachuca during its three years in the second-tier Primera División A but will of course now be an independent club. Indios also have an affiliate team in lower division soccer in the States named Indios USA and play their matches in El Paso, just across the border from Ciudad Juárez.
The emblem of Indios includes a soccer ball and a koyera, a type of bandana worn by the Tarahumara Indians of Northern Mexico where Ciudad Juárez is located.The name Indios (Indians) is also reflective of the prominence that Native American peoples and culture have in this part of Mexico, as are the nicknames Aborígenes and La Tribu (The Tribe). The Indios name has been used for other sports teams in the city, in particular baseball. Indios play in the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez, owned by the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez. It is named for Benito Juárez, a hugely important former president of Mexico. The city of Juárez is also named for him. Plans are afoot to build a larger and more modern stadium for the Indios to play in, to be financed by club president Francisco Ibarra Molina.
