Cobh Ramblers were initially founded as a field hockey club before eventually concentrating on football. They played non-league football for most of their history before finally entering the League of Ireland in the 1984-85 season. Just before that the Ramblers had a great run to the FAI Cup semifinals, the best ever performance by a non-league club. They are famous for being the club where Roy Keane got his start. The club's emblem is representative of its seaside location. The stadium takes its name from the famous St Colman's Cathedral in Cobh.
