Cliftonville is the name of an area of north Belfast. Cliftonville FC had its birth on September 20 1879 with an advertisement in the 'Newsletter' asking people to sign up with "Cliftonville Association Football Club". Their fan base is mostly in Catholic north and west Belfast. Cliftonville are he oldest football club in Ireland and their Solitude stadium is also the oldest stadium still in use in Ireland. Previous stadiums - Cliftonville Cricket Ground (1879-90).
