Formed by a merger of Club Malherbe Caennais and Club Sportif Caennais. Calvados and Basse-Normandie are the French administrative region and department of which Caen is the capital. François de Malherbe was a 16th century poet from Caen. Reached the final of the Coupe de la Ligue in 2005. The stadium is named for a 20th century French politician from the region. Previous stadiums - Venoix (-1993).
