Official Website: borussia.de Borussia is the Latin word for Prussia, the largest and most powerful of the Northern German states and the driving force behind the creation of the German Empire in the late 19th century. Founded in the Anton Schmitz pub by disgruntled members of FC Germannia. In 1919, merged with Tunrverein Germania 1889 and became 1889 Mönchengladbach. In 1921 changed to current name. Previous stadiums: Boekelberg (1919-2004). The club nickname is a reference to a time in the early 70s, when the club had a tradition of talented young players. (A foal is a young horse - a colt).
