Official Website: bjk.com.tr Beşiktaş is a neighborhood of Istanbul. The name translates to Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club. The oldest club in Turkey, the club was formed in secret as at that time sports were officially forbidden in Turkey. The club's colors were originally red and white (like the Turkish/Ottoman flag). At the close of the Balkan Wars of 1912-13, the country lost a large amount of land and the club lost a number of players. The colors were changed to black and white to symbolize the mourning for those losses. The club was given the right to incorporate the Turkish flag into their emblem because they once represented Turkey in a match against Greece, the only Turkish side ever to have done this. The stadium is named for İsmet İnönü, the second president of Turkey. Trophy Room:
