The original name (Asociación Atlética y Futbolística Argentinos Unidos de Villa Crespo) was determined to be too long and too expensive when the club went to have a rubber stamp made, so they chose something shorter. The nickname comes from a newspaper reference that the team 'Picaron los bichitos colorados' which translates as 'the red bugs stung'. Played the 1934 season in a forced merger with Atlanta. In 1957, Club Resurgimiento is merged into Argentinos Juniors. Based in La Paternal, a district of Buenos Aires. The club has produced a number of great Argentine players, most famously Diego Maradona (who the stadium is named after).
