Translation: Athletic Union of Constantinople. Formed by refugees from Constantinople/Istanbul after the Turkish/Greek wars of the early 20th century. This community is their traditional fan base. The club's logo is the two-headed eagle, the symbol of Byzantium (the old Greek empire based in Constantinople) and the Orthodox Church. The club's colors (yellow and black) are also the colors of the Orthodox Church. Originally founded as Pera in Constaninople in 1888, then refounded under the current name in Athens.
