Created on April 14, 1903 by the merger of Aberdeen, Victoria United and Orion. Dons nickname is a reference to the Don river which flows through Aberdeen. Pittodrie Stadium was the first all-seater and all-covered stadium in the UK and was also the first stadium to introduce the dug-out. Since reaching the top division in 1905-06, they have never been relegated - the only club besides Celtic and Rangers to have this honor. They were asked to withdraw for two seasons from 1917-19 due to war-related travel restrictions.
